Trademark Guidelines

Trademark input and amendment form CPA requires the following data to enter your Trademark cases onto our renewal system so that renewal notices can be generated at the appropriate time and your cases maintained.

Date
Date of transfer of renewal responsibility to CPA.

Batch number (if applicable)
CPA prefer to receive data in batches monthly or weekly. Please generate your sequential number to identify your batch e.g. 100, 101 etc. CPA will then monitor the batches to ensure they are processed in sequence.

Client name and client address
Your company name and address if changed.

CPA client number
Your CPA account number.

Division code (if applicable)
A short code of a maximum of six characters to identify the relevant division for this case should be included. If you require more information on divisional accounts please contact trademarks@cpaglobal.com

Division name and address (if applicable)
As above.

Country
Please provide the full country name or WIPO code to indicate the country in which the Trademark has been registered. CPA uses the WIPO ST.3 two character (also known as ICIREPAT) country codes.

Trademark registration number
With the exception of Greece and Libya only Trademarks that have been registered will be entered onto CPA’s records. Please supply the current registration number as in some countries the number changes on renewal. For Greece and Libya please supply the application number if the case has not yet been registered but fees are due.

First priority date
This is the date of the first filing of an application for the case, normally in the client’s country of origin.

Parent registration date
This field should contain the base date of the parent trademark i.e. the date from which the validity term for the parent registration calculates.

Parent registration number and country
This applies to registrations based on foreign ‘parent’ trademarks. Please indicate the parent registration number and name of the country in which it is registered.

Application date
This field should contain the application / filing date.

Registration date
This field should contain the registration / issue date of the trademark. In every country, other than Greece and Libya, it is necessary for either the registration date or number to be provided, otherwise the case will not be entered onto CPA’s records.

Full proprietor name
This field should contain the full proprietor/owner name as recorded at the Trademark Registry. This information is required in order to pay renewal fees.

Proprietor registered address
Please supply the registered address of the proprietor/owner as recorded at the Trademark Registry. Maximum 5 lines of 50 characters and a postcode/ zip code.

Trademark
This field should contain the name of the trademark or a description of the device mark. Maximum of 100 characters. If the trademark is a simple word use capital letters. For a trademark in special type or device give a brief description.
For example:
cPa = “CPA (in special script)”
<CPA> = “CPA (in triangle device)”


International classes
Please provide relevant class numbers. We require this information if a trademark has been registered in a country where there is a classification system. Please note, that Canada and Myanmar do not have a classification system and we will not therefore expect class information to be provided for these countries.

National classes
This field should contain a list of national class numbers. These should only be provided where the international classification system is not being used or the country is in the process of reclassifying it records e.g. Brazil, Thailand etc.

Your reference
Maximum 15 characters

Your case code (must be unique)
This should be a unique code allocated to the case by you or by your system. We will use this code on electronic or paper communications to identify the case.
