dotMobi to honour best mobile sites
Mid-December marks the deadline for entries to the Webby Mobile Awards – an all-new initiative launched by dotMobi, the mobile domain names registry, to acknowledge excellence in the field of websites tailored for cellular phones and palmtop gadgets. Responsible for rubber-stamping all .mobi domains, the registry has announced the awards to reflect the growing importance of mobile-operated sites as everyday resources.
dotMobi CEO, Neil Edwards, said of the awards: ‘With the incredible growth of the mobile Internet over the past year and new .mobi sites going live every week, we knew it was time to recognise the developers and companies who are bringing content directly to millions of mobile users, we're excited to be the premier sponsor of the first Webby Mobile Awards, acknowledging the best examples of compelling and usable consumer content for the mobile Internet.’
The award categories are: News and Entertainment, Listings and Updates and Mobile Marketplace. Lists of nominees will be released in April, and the gongs themselves will be enfolded into June’s 11th Annual Webby Awards – next year’s staging of the renowned ceremony for honouring Internet achievements.
All entries must be in by 15 December. Details can be found here
