Christmas cheer for revellers as Hangover cure patented

Specialist nutrition firm, Dietblends Inc, announced with astute seasonal timing on 20 December that it had finally received a US patent for its Xo3 hangover treatment. The firm has always believed that preventative medicine is the key to quashing hangovers, rather than attacking the stubborn symptoms themselves. As such, Xo3 is designed to be taken before or during a challenging night on the tiles.

Lead Chemist, Jeremy Jones, explains: ‘Xo3 fortifies the body with the essential elements the liver needs to speed up the detoxification and excretion of alcohol, thereby lowering toxins in the blood faster and more efficiently. This in turn eliminates, or at least substantially reduces, the negative effects of alcohol commonly referred to as a hangover.’

‘There really is no such thing as a hangover cure,’ says company founder, Peter Dobler. Those two words together become somewhat of an oxymoron since the damage has already been done. Xo3 helps prevent hangovers if it is consumed while drinking alcoholic beverages. Xo3 is not magic; it’s actually based on the body’s fundamental biochemistry. This is why Xo3 works so well.’

The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) reviewed Xo3’s patentability for three years. Dobler considers that its claim to being effective within the parameters of normal body chemistry is what enabled it to be taken seriously. ‘For us, the patent substantiates a common sense approach to alcohol consumption; why do
we prepare for a workout, but ignore preparing the body for something much more taxing?’
