New Bridge built for world-class COPs
Since 2006, the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) has garnered acclaim for its accreditation of outsourcing specialists. In creating a globally recognised standard of excellence for certified outsourcing professionals (COPs), the designation scheme has given considerable credence to a new generation of legal and business staff who have demonstrated an end-to-end grasp of outsourcing processes.
Now the IAOP has announced its new COP Bridge Program, which will allow professionals to apply training and education from outside institutions towards earning full COP status. The organisation hopes that, by linking up to the program, universities, colleges, associations and corporations will gain increased visibility and prestige for their own outsourcing-related programs – an effect that will only benefit the sector in the long term.
Professionals will be able to select external programs from those listed in the IAOP’s course catalogue, each of which will count for up to 25 points towards the Knowledge and Training criteria for certification. A tally of 100 points will meet those criteria in full. An additional 50 points are required in the Experience section. Bodies that wish to have their courses accepted are invited to submit COP Bridge Program Accreditation Applications to the IAOP.
IAOP’s senior managing director of training and certification, Christina Powers, said: ‘The COP certification has now reached a critical mass and matured to the point where the COP Bridge Program is needed and being sought. Many organisations have requested that IAOP create this type of program and now we are ready to open the floodgates.’
