Stellar line-up promised for IAOP forum
More details have emerged about the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) Governance Forum, slated for 9 September at Chicago's Marriott Hotel. The event is set to hear a raft of first-hand testimony on governance in outsourcing from such big-hitting blue-chips as IBM, Allstate Corporation and Ameriprise Financial.
Perhaps the most eye-catching item on the bill is If We Had Only Known When... Governance Lessons from the Front Lines. Bound to attract a flock of beginner-outsourcers, the seminar will feature representatives from Allstate, plus others from Blue Shield and Vantage Partners, sharing their real-life lessons on governance: what works, what doesn't, and what they would do differently if they had it to do all over again.
IBM, meanwhile, presents Straight Talk and Setting Expectations for Outsourcing Success, which aims to instruct firms on how they can stay on the same page as their service providers, communicate effectively and avoid misinterpretations.
'Good governance and effective relationship management is what distinguishes outsourcing deals that deliver value from those that disappoint,' says Vantage Partners' Danny Ertel. 'Governance helps buyers go beyond just managing the risk of the deal, to realizing and exceeding their business case. Indeed, the capability to manage relationships for mutual value is what differentiates the top providers in an increasingly commoditized environment.'
IAOP managing director of thought leadership, Jagdish Dalal, says: 'IAOP's Governance Forum – the first full-day, multi-track event dedicated to this critical issue – is a unique opportunity to learn what really works in practice to enable companies to achieve the result they desire from outsourcing deals.'
