The Global Institute for Intellectual Property (GIIP) is encouraging LPO professionals to sign up to the June phase of its course, Intellectual Property and International Patents.

Run in association with the University of Washington and the Centre for Advanced Study and Research on Intellectual Property (CASRIP), the dual certification course provides comprehensive training on the business, technical and legal aspects of International Patents and procedures.

Coverage of US, Indian and European IP laws and processes is presented by a qualified and experienced faculty, drawn from such highly-regarded establishments as William Mitchell College of Law, the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and Silicon Valley Seminars Inc. The course also features extensive input from WIPO, the USPTO and a host of leading US and Indian law and patent firms, bringing a global perspective and intensity required to handle intricate and complex issues in the field of patents.

With interest in IP Rights around the world – and particularly in India – on the rise, the GIIP is touting the course as a 'chance to make hay while the sun shines.' As well as seeking established LPO practitioners to sign up to the course and build on their existing knowledge, the GIIP is hoping to attract graduates, post-graduates and PhDs from the fields of engineering; pharmaceuticals; IT; electronics; biotechnology; telecommunications; chemistry and mechanics. Teachers and Professors in those disciplines are also welcome, along with domain experts and research scholars.

In a press release, the Institute said: 'Students from GIIP's past programmes … have been successfully placed with companies like [Indian pharma firm] Ranbaxy, [technology provider] Cisco, and [CPA Global offshoring division] Intellevate.'
